Flipped Pathway to Molecular Simulation
This teaching project plans to redesign the course ‘Molecular Modelling and Simulation of Biological and Pharmaceutical Systems’ for the master’s degree programmes in Biochemical and Chemical Engineering and Pharmaceutical Process Engineering. The aim is to internationalise the course by making it more accessible through teaching in English and by initiating and implementing collaborations with partner institutions in the USA, Brazil and Tanzania. A second focus is also on strengthening students’ ability to work independently on currently relevant scientific issues by carrying out simulation projects in working groups. This allows students to gain fundamental, practical experience and expand their knowledge of the implementation of molecular simulation methods. The planned flipped classroom design enables self-study independent of time and place by providing digital teaching materials. It also teaches students how to work independently and how to use digital learning media as well as intercultural communication and collaboration skills.
